Our Tasks
When farm animals are slaughtered, only about one-third of the meat processed can be used directly for human consumption. The remaining two-thirds cannot be considered waste material by any means but are instead products that can be used in many different ways.
Meat Industry Services
As a company that provides services for the meat industry, Centravo offers ecological, economical and legally compliant recycling options for all slaughter and butchering products that are not used by the meat industry itself. Centravo also provides the necessary logistics services for collecting all animal by-products and food. The collected raw materials are either processed in our own modern and forward-looking production facilities or utilised with partner companies. Complete traceability and flawless hygienic collection and processing are ensured for all raw materials at all times in a system that is exemplary on the European market.
Partner for Agriculture
Centravo offers a “Livestock from the Farm” collection service that is aligned with the needs of the agricultural sector and takes into account various regional and cantonal requirements. With this rapid and safe recycling of dead animals, Centravo makes a major contribution to preventing and combating animal diseases.
Public Awareness Service
In partnership with the federal government and cantonal governments, Centravo has taken on the important task of ensuring epidemic readiness for Swiss agriculture. Should an animal disease break out in Switzerland, Centravo would be able to quickly collect and dispose of even large numbers of animal carcasses in a professional and hygienic manner. In the case of dead animals that have not fallen victim to an animal disease, Centravo either collects the carcasses itself at its own facilities or provides support to cantonal/municipal collection centres.
As an intermediary between government authorities and the private sector, Centravo offers assistance with all matters relating to national waste disposal safety as a means of ensuring the necessary autonomy for Switzerland in the event of border closures.
