Organization

The Centravo Group has been structured as a Holding since early 2010. The individual operating areas and companies are divided into four business units: Centravo, Rendering, Oils & Fats and Logistics. Thus, the entire range of services for slaughter and processing plants are covered.

Centravo’s traditional core business is providing service to the meat industry through the processing of animal products, which includes Category 3 food and by-products, such as animal feed or hides and skins. The corresponding activities are consolidated within the Centravo business unit.

Waste material recycling and optimal energy use from animal fat, as well as meat and bone meal are part of GZM and Swiss Ecovalor’s areas of responsibility. These tasks are assumed by the Rendering business unit.

At the onset of the business, Centravo’s principle activity was processing and commercializing animal fat derived from the slaughtering process. Over the last decades, the demand shifted more and more towards vegetable Oils & Fats. Taking these new market conditions into account, Centravo, through its capacity of Nutriswiss AG, steadily built up the business of raw vegetable material processing and purchased the traditional Glarus company Grüninger AG, specialized in margarine production.

Centravo’s transportation operations are performed by its centralized Logistics, which has become a separate business unit since the Holding structure has been introduced.
