Leadership principles

Our six leadership principles were developed through cross-departmental collaboration between our business segments. Each principle was linked with a metaphor to make them more relatable. Using these as our inspiration, we then developed a six-part series of creative, entertaining video shorts that we presented to our staff. These principles have shaped our day-to-day collaboration ever since, helping us to strengthen and support one another and be successful together.

Social skills

Social competence connects people through respect, trust, and empathy.

Social competence forms the core of good leadership, because it connects people at a real, sustainable level. It begins with respect and a positive attitude towards others as well as one basic mindset: You have to like people. Leaders who embrace this approach build trust and treat those around them with genuine empathy; they listen to and understand the needs of their people. Appreciation is demonstrated through day-to-day actions, recognition of achievements and open collaboration. It gives rise to relationships in which people feel connected and can grow together. Social competence therefore not only means managing tasks but also empowering people and creating a culture in which success is built on trust, respect, and humanity.

Picture a climbing party on its way to the top of the Matterhorn.

Everyone is connected by rope and shares a clear goal: reaching the summit. In this scenario, executives play the part of an experienced mountain guide: They provide orientation, set the course, and ensure that everyone progresses safely. At the same time, they recognize the personal strengths, needs, and limitations of each individual, and respond flexibly to changing conditions, such as the weather or the terrain.
Like in a climbing party, they need clear agreements and motivation so that everyone can play their part. Trust and empathy are crucial; the only way for the group to remain stable is if each individual member can rely on the rest of the team. Equally important is the principle of support and challenge: Executive leadership provides support, establishes safeguards, and creates the right framework conditions, but it also demands that each member of the team take responsibility, concentrate, and focus on the goals.

Sustainability is a responsibility of leadership, and we consciously embrace it at the Centravo Group. Our “Sustainability Tree” visualizes this stance. Our values are at the root of everything we do. They provide support, create trust, and unite us as a team. The branches represent our thoughts and actions: responsible, reflective, and focused on the future. For us, leadership means moving ahead with foresight and showing that we care: about employees, about the environment and about our partners. This is how we live sustainability – day in, day out – and play an active role in shaping society.

True customer happiness comes not from external possessions, but from responsible actions, trust, and collaboration.

Embracing an entrepreneurial mindset and actions means taking responsibility and actively shaping the future. It starts with a clear vision that provides guidance, defines the direction and makes it clear to everyone in the team what they stand for. Together. This is how true accountability comes into being. Not merely for individual tasks, but for everything as a whole.

Successful entrepreneurial activity thrives on strong teams in which experience and curiosity go hand in hand. Roles are assigned according to individual strengths so that everyone knows how they can contribute to joint success and can do so effectively.
Long-term success also calls for foresighted planning and responsible use of resources. This includes the ability to make decisions appropriate for the situation at hand – sometimes courageously and decisively, sometimes thoughtfully and prudently.

Finally, an entrepreneurial mindset is always focused on learning. Growth comes from experience, not only from successes but also from mistakes.
Anybody willing to keep learning and continue their development on an ongoing basis will lay a solid foundation for sustainable success.

“Information & Communication” is a leadership principle that is grounded in an honest and open mindset. Information is shared responsibly and communicated both clearly and confidently. Communication takes place both verbally and non-verbally, both directly and in person as well as digitally via our CenTraNet, always appropriate to the situation and addressee.

Our employees communicate respectfully and appreciatively, take intercultural differences into account and promote open dialog. Awareness of 360-degree communication ensures that honest feedback flows in all directions and that transparency, trust, and collaboration are strengthened over the long term.
